Meet Tim, DoohClick’s new Chief Operating Officer

We’re thrilled to introduce you to our newest team member, Tim Edmonds! To help you get to know him better, we’ve sat down for a quick Q&A session.

1. Welcome to the team, Tim! Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

Thanks, it’s a pleasure to be here! I am a native Englishman who moved to Sweden in 2010, and have been here ever since. Fully naturalized into the Swedish way of life, I am a family man with a minivan, but no dog….. yet. I have had many hobbies and interests over the years, but the love of Rugby (both watching and playing) and motor vehicles has never waivered. On my weekends I can mostly be found either out with the family or renovating our current house (now on to our third property as a family!).

2. Why the leap to DoohClick?

The world of DOOH advertising is in a new phase of growth, with connected infrastructure and advancing analytics creating exciting new opportunities. DoohClick is a market leading presence in the software needed to make all these screens work smoothly and provide detailed data on all areas of a company’s AdOps (I jokingly call us the AdOps operating system). I am a business nerd, and I dare anyone to find a business nerd who wouldn’t get excited at the opportunity of driving global expansion in a growth business area…..

3. What does your role involve?

As Chief Operating Officer I carry a lot of responsibility for core business functions, and ensuring the business runs smoothly. In practical terms this relates to processes, systems, finance, legal, customer success, and many things inbetween. I simplify it by saying that I am in the business of running the business, so Jonas and Mark can focus on growing the business; but in reality we are a very collaborative environment and support each other all over.

3. What are you most excited about in your new role?

I really enjoy seeing the direct impacts of our efforts, assessing and adapting based on the outputs, and seeing the (mostly) positive results. This tangibility of the work is a great personal motivator, plus learning about a new industry and being part of figuring out how to make it all a great success on the global stage. It is all a puzzle to be solved!

4. Can you share a fun fact or something unique about yourself?

I had to think a bit about this, but a fun fact worth mentioning is that I was an extra in the first Harry Potter film. When I was (much) younger I was a boarder at the Durham Chorister School. Durham Cathedral and the accompanying buildings make up part of Hogwarts, and all of us who lived at the school were used as extra pupils wandering around in robes carrying books in the background. I have watched the film a few times, and while I have spotted a few of my friends I have not spotted myself, so I think I probably ended up on the cutting room floor……

5. How do you like to approach new challenges or projects?

In general I am a “why not?” type of person, so when approaching any new challenge it is all about: What do we know now? Where do we want to go? What is the gap between the two?. Once this has been identified you can plan your next move and take a step towards your goal. If you don’t know something, go find out. If you can’t complete a step, figure it out. Any movement forward is better than no movement at all.

7. What’s one thing you hope to learn or achieve in your time here?

There are many things I hope to learn and achieve, and as my time in DoohClick progresses the list is getting longer! It takes a bit of thought to pick a single item, but for now I have landed on “how can we effectively our margins while maximizing the potential value associated with the variability of multiple currency exchange rates” (I did warn you I am a business nerd….). I can see that as we grow our international business outside of Europe, potentially even surpassing the European market as a percentage of revenue, we will be facing currency headwinds and tailwinds that will have a measurable effect on our monthly finances. This is something I haven’t specifically handled before, and I am really looking forward to the day that solving this puzzle becomes a priority.

9. Lastly, how can people connect with you?

The 2 easiest platforms to connect are LinkedIn and email. I am always interested in connecting to interesting people online, and email is a fantastic way to connect asynchronously. Please get in touch!
