Say hello to our sales development representative

Our sales development supremo is on a lifelong journey of self-discovery and improvement. Petra Wijnands hails originally from the Netherlands but is now based in Spain where she represents DoohClick as part of her European remit.

Tell us about you

I’m Dutch, but I have travelled a lot, working in Hungary, Malta and Greece. Now I’m based in Spain where I live with my partner and my cat. I’d describe myself as a workaholic. I’m devoted to my job, but I also like to help other people not just from a work perspective, but also in their personal development. Outside of work, I’m a crypto NFT collector.

Is trading digital NFTs a lucrative side hustle?

NFTs are the new face of digital trading. As my hobby is collecting NFTs a friend approached me to do some marketing so I said yes, just to learn more. Is it a lucrative side hustle? That’s a difficult question. I would say yes, but it all depends on the project if it is a success or not.

What prompted your decision to live and work abroad?

In the Netherlands people are always in a rush, and I was kind of done with that. I want to learn more about people, different cultures and countries and more about myself. How strong I can be as a woman. Eight years ago I didn’t speak a word of English. I learned the language by watching YouTube and Netflix and through practice.

How has it influenced your journey?

Travelling is the best decision I ever made because it has enriched my thinking and my world. I left school for family reasons when I was 15, started with McDonalds and worked my way up. In customer support in finance, by becoming a team leader and then moving into sales which I love because it’s a mix of helping people find the solutions they need. It wasn’t the fastest pathway, but when I look back at how far I have come, I’m really happy with what I’ve achieved.

How did this lead you to DoohClick?

An opportunity arose with DoohClick to be able to work with Lawrence (Hyde) again. Being able to bring the same energy and thought processes we worked with in a previous business seemed like a no-brainer. So I took the opportunity and haven’t looked back.

What do you do?

I’m often the first point of contact for media owners and I’m talking to them on a daily basis. I want to understand their pain points and how we can help them. I do a lot of research about the medium because OOH operates differently in different territories. The one unifying feature is that OOH is a traditional industry which is based on building relationships.

Why does that matter?

It’s about working and learning together, not just coming on board as a remote software supplier. This is where really DoohClick stands out. We have the industry knowledge and experience to build something quite unique – a platform that helps OOH companies scale, succeed and take revenue share from other ad channels in the process. It’s a win-win relationship.

How can people contact you?

I’m lucky to be in Spain where I’m helping to set up a new operational base for DoohClick. Which means you can meet me in person at ISE Barcelona from May 10 to May 13 for lunch or a coffee if you happen to be there too. Just get in touch via petra.w@doohclick.com
